What effect does the death and resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) have on you?
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Ephesians 1:7
This verse teaches us that two primary outcomes of Yeshua’s death and resurrection are “redemption” and “forgiveness of sins”.
“Redemption” means “a releasing effected by payment of ransom”. In other words, a ransom or price was paid for your release. The price that was paid was Yeshua’s life. He voluntarily gave up his life as a ransom so that mankind, including you, would be released from captivity to sin and Satan.
Yeshua answered them, Truly, truly, I say unto you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. John 8:34
He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of Elohim (God) was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8
Even as the Son of man (Yeshua) came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28
“Forgiveness of sins” means Yahweh (our Creator) forgives all our transgressions against His holy law. When we break His law it is called “sin”. Sin brings the death penalty upon a person.
For the wages of sin is death; Romans 6:23a
If you ever stole anything, committed adultery or idolatry, lied, murdered someone, etc., then you sinned and are under the death penalty. It is the price you must pay for your sins. However, Yeshua the Messiah paid that price for you when he died for you. He took the sins of the entire world upon himself, including yours, and allowed his blood to be shed so that the sins of all people would be forgiven.
Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12
For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Yeshua Messiah. Therefore as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Romans 5:17-19
And he is the propitiation (appeasement) for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2
Not only do we receive redemption and the forgiveness of sins through Yeshua’s death and resurrection, but we will receive eternal life.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of Elohim is eternal life through Yeshua Messiah our Master. Romans 6:23
For Elohim so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For Elohim sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16-17
The effect of Yeshua’s death and resurrection upon the believer goes far beyond what little this short blog mentions.
But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which Elohim has prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9
Those things await those that love Yahweh and who believe on His only begotten Son Yeshua. I hope you, dear reader, will be among the recipients.
