John 3:16 – The True vs. The False
The True:
For God (Father YHWH) so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son (Yeshua), that whosoever believes in him (Yeshua) should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
The False According to Oneness Proponents:
For God so loved the world, that He gave Himself, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This false teaching is based on the belief that the Son is the God of Israel who became a man.
The False According to Trinity Proponents:
For God the Father so loved the world, that He gave God the Son, that whosoever believes in God the Son should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This false teaching is based on the belief that the Son is the second person of a trinity in which all three persons are God.
The False According to Works Proponents:
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son to bring us back to Torah so that, through obedience to it, we should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This false teaching is based on the belief that men are justified or made righteous by works of the law/Torah.
The False According to Atheists:
There is no God that so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This false teaching is based on the belief that there is no God.
The False According to Agnostics:
It is impossible to know for sure if there really is a God that so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This false teaching is based on the belief that we cannot know for sure whether or not a supreme being exists.
The False According to Polytheists:
For one of the Gods may have so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This false teaching is based on the belief that there are many gods that we are to worship, not just one whose name is “YHWH” (Yahweh).
The False According to Catholics:
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him and gets baptized and does good works should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This false teaching requires the works of man to bring about salvation. The thief on the cross was not baptized, nor did he do good works, yet he will be in paradise with Yeshua.
The False According to Gnostics:
For the Demiurge gave His seemingly human Son, that whosoever believes in the knowledge that he provides should not perish, but enter Pleroma.
This false teaching is based on the belief that the attainment of knowledge will bring one the fullness of his spirituality and admittance into the heavenly world.
The False According to Jehovah’s Witnesses:
For Jehovah so loved the world, that He sent the archangel Michael, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This false teaching is based on the erroneous belief that God’s name is “Jehovah” and that our Savior was really the archangel Michael.
The False According to Mormons:
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him and is baptized and does perfect works should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This false teaching requires the works of man to bring about salvation. The thief on the cross was not baptized, nor did he do good works, yet he will be in paradise with Yeshua.
These are just a few of the false teachings being preached that you should be mindful of. If anyone comes to you preaching these false teachings, reject them and embrace only the truth as revealed in John 3:16;
For God (Father YHWH) so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son (Yeshua), that whosoever believes in him (Yeshua) should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
