We humans are always seeking ways to satisfy ourselves whether it be satisfying our flesh, our eyes or our desire for power and wealth. There are, of course, many ways to satisfy ourselves physically, socially, mentally, and spiritually. Some forms of satisfaction have far more benefits than others. However, we can concentrate on satisfying ourselves in one area of our lives and totally miss opportunities for satisfaction in others.

Satisfying the flesh

Proverbs 16:26 He that labors labors for himself; for his mouth craves it of him.

Ecclesiastes 6:7 All the labor of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.

Proverbs 18:20 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

We work long hours at our daily jobs to provide food for ourselves and our family. Yet, we are not content to eat only that which preserves life. We have to experience all the pleasure that food can provide by buying a wide assortment of snacks, breakfast cereals, microwave meals, desserts, etc. It just doesn’t seem to satisfy us to just eat an apple. Instead, we have to have apple pie, apple turnovers, apple strudel, apple jelly, apples in our oatmeal or stuffed in our turkeys, etc. The list of creative ways to eat apples is endless. The same holds true with all other fruits and vegetables. Of course, eating basic foods prepared in a variety of ways is not sinful. What is sinful is to allow our lust for food to eclipse our love for Yahweh.

Philippians 3:18-19 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Messiah: Whose end is destruction, whose [Elohim] is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

While these four verses of Scripture concern the physical self satisfaction of our mouth (appetite), it can be applied to every area of our lives, especially satisfying the lust of the flesh for drugs and sex. Mankind works hard at satisfying his flesh.

However, the Scriptures give us a word of warning:

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of [Elohim].

Galatians 6:8 For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Satisfying the eyes

Proverbs 27:20 The grave and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.

Ecclesiastes 1:8 . . . the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.

Satisfying the eyes has become big business. Hollywood started out by making black and white films that catered to one’s mind or heart via comedies or love stories. Now we see films that are not only packed with adventure, thrills, incredible special effects and color, but in 3D as well. We also see films that are revealing more and more skin as the actors are clothed without modesty. Of course, Hollywood would not be complete if they did not also cater to our lust to see violence and sex.

We also satisfy our eyes by buying the coolest looking cars, the most beautiful houses, wearing the most attractive clothes, gazing upon beautiful women or handsome men, etc.

However, the Scriptures give us a word of warning:

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Satisfying the desire for wealth

Ecclesiastes 5:10 He that loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loves abundance with increase: this is also vanity.

Proverbs 15:27 He that is greedy of gain troubles his own house; but he that hates gifts [bribes] shall live.

Proverbs 21:25-26 The desire of the slothful kills him; for his hands refuse to labor. He covets greedily all the day long: but the righteous gives and spares not.

Many poor people desire to be rich and many rich people desire to be richer. They have a notion that the more wealth they attain the happier and more secure they will be. It is usually the case that as one’s wealth increases so does their lust for it. It is never satisfied. Most people are simply not content where they are financially, but strive to attain more via increasing their goods or their bank accounts.

However, the Scriptures give us a word of warning:

Mark 10:24-25 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Yahshua answered again, and said unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of [Elohim]! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of [Elohim].

Our riches may indeed bring us happiness and security, but only temporarily unless we do not allow them to draw us away from Yahweh.

Luke 12:16-21 And he [Yahshua] spoke a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have much goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But [Elohim] said unto him, You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: then whose shall those things be, which you have provided? So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward [Elohim].

Yahweh gives people wealth, but we must choose to handle it righteously by not hoarding it for ourselves, by sharing a portion of it with those in need, by using it to further the Good News of Messiah, etc. If we handle it unrighteously, we will be the subject of James 5:1-3:

Go to now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth eaten.

Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days.

True satisfaction

Psalm 22:26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise Yahweh that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.

Those that are “meek” (poor, humble and/or afflicted) who put their trust in Yahweh and who praise His name will not only be satisfied with their daily bread in this life, but will be satisfied with abundance in the next life after they are resurrected unto eternal life. They will, at the appointed time, inherit all things from Yahweh who loves them.

Psalm 37:18-20 Yahweh know the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of Yahweh shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

Are you an enemy of Yahweh? You can become one of His children through believing on His only begotten Son Yahshua and receiving him as your Master and Savior:

John 1:12 But as many as received him (Yahshua), to them gave he power to become the sons of [Elohim], even to them that believe on his name:

Another way to assure you are satisfied in the things that matter most is to fear Yahweh.

Proverbs 19:23 The fear of Yahweh tends to life: and he that has it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

To “fear” Yahweh means to reverence Him and to have a “quake in your boots” kind of fear at the knowledge of Yahweh’s mighty power over your life. When we have those kinds of fear, we begin to have wisdom and knowledge.

Psalm 111:10 The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endures for ever.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Friend, if you desire to live a satisfied life in this world, do not seek that satisfaction through the things that man creates or from man himself, but seek satisfaction through the Creator of all things, Yahweh. He gave you life and He is the only one that can truly fulfill the desires of your heart. It is in His mighty power to provide food, clothing, shelter, transportation, employment, a spouse, wealth, and salvation unto eternal life for you. He is the only one that can truly provide you with intellectual, social, psychological, physical and spiritual satisfaction.

Psalm 145:14-21 Yahweh upholds all that fall, and raises up all those that are bowed down.

The eyes of all wait upon you; and you give them their food in due season.

You open your hand, and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

Yahweh is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all His works.

Yahweh is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.

He will fulfill the desire of them that fear Him: He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

Yahweh preserves all them that love Him: but all the wicked will He destroy.

My mouth shall speak the praise of Yahweh: and let all flesh bless His holy name for ever and ever.

For anyone who has a great love for the name “Yahweh” and who wishes to restore it to their own Bibles, please consider the following information which comes to us from The Companion Bible, Appendixes 30 and 32;

“All the oldest and best manuscripts of the Hebrew Bible contain on every page . . . a varying number of lines of smaller writing, distributed between the upper and lower margins. This smaller writing is called the Massorah Magna or Great Massorah, while that in the side margins and between the columns is called the Massorah Parva or Small Massorah.”

“. . . it contains the information necessary to those into whose trust the Sacred Text was committed, so that they might transcribe it, and hand it down correctly.” “This had been the work of the Sopherim.Their work, under Ezra and Nehemiah, was to set the Text in order after the return from Babylon; . . .”

“It [the Massorah] does not contain notes or comments as such, but facts and phenomena . . . for the set purpose of safeguarding the Sacred Text, and preventing the loss or misplacement of a single letter or word.”

“When the Hebrew Text was printed, only the large type in the columns was regarded, and the small type of the Massorah was left, unheeded, in the MSS. from which the Text was taken. When the translators came to the printed Hebrew Text, they were necessarily destitute of the information contained in the Massorah; so that the Revisers as well as the Translators of the Authorized Version carried out their work without any idea of the treasures contained in the Massorah; and therefore, without giving a hint to their readers.”

Among the most critical information that the Massorah provides is the location of 134 instances where the ancient custodians of the Hebrew Text substituted “Adonai” in place of “Yahweh” out of extreme (but mistaken) reverence. These, in the A.V. and R.V., are all printed “Lord”.

The following list contains the 134 places were the substitutions were made. If you wish to restore the Sacred Name of “Yahweh” to your Bible, simply highlight or underline the word “Lord” and read “Yahweh” when you come to it.

Genesis 18:3,27,30,32;19:18; 20:4: Exodus 4:10,13; 5:22;15:17; 34:9,9; Numbers 14:17; Joshua 7:8; Judges 6:15; 13:8; 1 Kings 3:10,15; 22:6; 2 Kings 7:6; 19:23; Ezra 10:3; Nehemiah 1:11; 4:14; Job 28:28

Psalms 2:4; 16:2; 22:19,30; 30:8; 35:3,17,22; 37:12; 38:9,15,22; 39:7; 40:17; 44:23; 51:15; 54:4; 55:9; 57:9; 59:11; 62:12; 66:18; 68:11,17,19,22,26,32; 73:20; 77:2,7; 78:65; 79:12; 86:3,4,5,8,9,12; 90:1,17; 110:5; 130:2,3,6

Isaiah 3:17,18; 4:4; 6:1,8,11; 7:14,20; 8:7; 9:8,17; 11:11; 21:6,8,16; 28:2; 29:13; 30:20; 37:24; 38:14,16;49:14; Lamentation 1:14,15,15; 2:1,2,5,7,18,19,20; 3:31,36,37,58; Ezekiel 18:25,29; 21:13; ; 33:17,29; Daniel 1:2; 9:3,4,7,9,15, 16,17,19,19,19; Amos 5:16; 7:7,8; 9:1; Zechariah 9:4; Micah 1:2; Malachi 1:12,14

To these may be added the following, where “Elohim” was treated in the same way:

2 Sam.5:19-2; 6:9-17 – Where the A.V. has “LORD”.

1 Chr. 13:12; 14:10,11,14,16; 16:1; Ps.14:1,2,5; 53:1,2,4,5; – Where the A.V. and R.V. it still appears as “God”.

(All these substitutions were done in addition to the vowel markings of “Adonai” being applied to the four letters forming the tetragrammaton [YHWH].

Isaiah 43:11 - “ I, even I, am Yahweh; and beside me there is no saviour.”

Hosea 13:4 – “Yet I am Yahweh your Elohim from the land of Egypt, and you shall know no elohim but me: for there is no saviour beside me.”

These verses have led many people to question how Yahshua the Messiah can be the Saviour of Israel and the world. Some have concluded that, since there is no saviour beside Yahweh, Messiah Yahshua must be Yahweh. Others have even renounced Yahshua as their Saviour and turned to Yahweh as their only Saviour. Are such conclusions and drastic, hasty decisions warranted? Let’s examine the issue in more detail.

The word “Saviour” in both verses is the Hebrew “yasha” (Strong’s #3467) and means “to be open, wide or free, that is, (by implication) to be safe; causatively to free or succor:”

Here is how “yasha” was used in Judges 6:14-15:

“And Yahweh looked upon him [Gideon], and said, Go in this your might, and you shall save [yasha] Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent you? And he said unto Him, Oh my Adonai, how shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.”

These words were spoken to Gideon long before Yahweh used Isaiah and Hosea to prophesy about there being no Saviour besides Him. I’ll comment on how this can be after I give a few more examples.

“(And Yahweh gave Israel a saviour [yasha], so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.” 2 Kings 13:5

We learn that the saviour Yahweh gave them was Joash (vs.25).

Isaiah prophesied that Yahweh would send a future saviour to Egypt to deliver them from their oppressors.

“And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto Yahweh of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto Yahweh because of the oppressors, and He shall send them a saviour [yasha], and a great one, and he shall deliver them. “ Isaiah 19:20

Nehemiah 9:27 speaks of saviours that Yahweh sent to save Israel.

“Therefore you delivered them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto you, you heard them from heaven; and according to your manifold mercies you gave them saviours [yasha], who saved [yasha] them out of the hand of their enemies.”

Obadiah also prophesied about future saviour that will be sent to Israel.

“And saviours [yasha] shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be Yahweh’s.” Obadiah 1:21

From the Scripture references given above, it is clear that there were other saviours besides Yahweh both before and after the words spoken by Isaiah and Hosea in our opening verses. How are we to take those apparent contradictions? Do we think the Almighty made a mistake and abandon Him because He is not omniscient? Do we reject His prophets because they prophesied falsely? Or do we seek to harmonize all the texts?

It seems obvious to me that when Yahweh said there was no other Saviour except Him, He was declaring Himself the ONE TRUE SAVIOUR. As such, He can choose any method He wants to save people. He can choose to save by Himself or He can choose to save by raising up men to act as saviours. The men He raises up do not replace Yahweh as the ultimate Saviour from whom all salvation flows. They are vessels through whom Yahweh saves. If Yahweh can and has used men in the past to be saviours, then why can’t He use His Messiah to save people as well? If Yahweh can use men to bring about a temporal salvation to His people, why can’t He use His Messiah to bring about an eternal salvation for His people? He can and He has.

He has also placed in Torah the life of Joseph which is an uncanny parallel with the life of Yahshua. Yahweh used Joseph to save not only the children of Israel, but many others from the nation stricken by the famine. Consider the following two verses.

Genesis 45:7 – And Elohim sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

Genesis 50:20 - But as for you, you thought evil against me; but Elohim meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

The starving nations had to come to Joseph for food and to save their lives. He was a type of Messiah Yahshua to whom the world must come for spiritual food and salvation. Yahshua is the bread of life and the Yahweh appointed Saviour of the world. If Yahweh could use Joseph to save people, He could use His Messiah, Yahshua, to save people as well. However, the salvation we receive through Yahshua is far more efficacious than the temporal salvation received through Joseph. For salvation through Yahshua is eternal.

A similar issue to that of “no Saviour besides me” is “no Elohim besides me”.

Isaiah 43:10 - “You are my witnesses, says Yahweh, and my servant whom I have chosen: that you may know and believe me, and understand that I am He: before me there was no el formed, neither shall there be after me. “

Isaiah 44:6 – “ Thus says Yahweh the King of Israel, and his redeemer Yahweh of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no Elohim.”

Concerning the Hebrew “El”, it was used for strong men, a mighty warrior, and pagan mighty ones.

Ezekiel 32:21 – “The strong [el] among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword. “

Isaiah 9:6 – “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty el [el gibbor – mighty warrior], Father of Eternity, The Prince of Peace.”

Daniel 11:36 - “And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every mighty one [el], and shall speak marvelous things against the El of [elim], and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.”

Concerning “elohim”, it was used for judges in Israel and angels.

Exodus 21:6 - “Then his master shall bring him unto the judges [elohim]; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for ever.”

Exodus 22:8 - “If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges [elohim], to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbor’s goods. “

1Samuel 2:25 – “If one man sin against another, the judge [elohim] shall judge him: but if a man sin against Yahweh, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because Yahweh would slay them.”

Psalm 8:5 – “For you have made him a little lower than the angels [elohim], and have crowned him with glory and honor.”

Based on the word “elohim” being used for others besides Yahweh, we must conclude that when Yahweh said there was no other “El” or “Elohim” beside Him, He was declaring Himself to be the ONE TRUE ELOHIM.

So, now we know Yahweh is the Saviour and Elohim of Israel, but that there are other saviours and elohim beside Yahweh. The question remains, “is Yahshua the Messiah also a saviour and Elohim of Israel?”

Luke 2:11 – “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Messiah the Master.”

1 John 4:14 – “ And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.”

Isaiah 9:6 – “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty el, Father of Eternity, The Prince of Peace.”

Psalm 45:6-7 – “ Your throne, O elohim, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of your kingdom is a right sceptre.” You love righteousness, and hate wickedness: therefore elohim, your Elohim, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. “

Yahweh has made His only begotten Son Yahshua both Saviour and Elohim (a mighty one among his people). Yahshua is not the one true Saviour or the one true Elohim, but he is undoubtedly a saviour and an elohim appointed by Yahweh. Praise Yahweh for giving us His Son to save us and rule over us in righteousness. HalleluYah!

Proverbs 22:1 says, “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches . . .” and Ec.7:1 says, “A good name is better than precious ointment; . . .” These verses use the word “name” as a synonym for “reputation.” Most of us are familiar with Billy Graham the famous evangelist. He has a very good name or reputation among the people of this world. What will happen if the history books are rewritten and his name, “Billy Graham,” was deleted and “the evangelist” was put in its place? Eventually his good name would be forgotten. The world would no longer know an individual who was identified as “Billy Graham.” Instead, they would remember a generic title that could be applied to any of thousands of evangelists. Such a change would be a tragic injustice to such a man.

Such is the tragic injustice that has befallen our Creator’s Name. Is.63:16 reads, “Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O Yahweh, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.” Yahweh has eternally existed. During that time He has borne the Name “Yahweh.” There was never a time when He did not exist as “Yahweh.” He later revealed His Name to Adam, Eve, and all the great patriarchs. He revealed His desire concerning His Name in Ex.9:16; “And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to show in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.” Yahweh wanted the entire world, not just His people Israel, to know His Name and to declare it. It was to spread from mouth to mouth just as we spread the good news of salvation today.

But what happened? Over the course of time the greatest history book in the world was rewritten, Yahweh’s Name was removed, and generic titles (kurios, the LORD, GOD) were substituted in its place. As a result, the world no longer declares His Name mouth to mouth. They no longer identify the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Mighty One of the Exodus, etc., by His eternal Name “Yahweh.” Instead, they profess to honor and remember Him by titles that can be applied to many (1 Cor.8:5). They have forgotten His Name (Ps.44:20,21).

Yahweh is now working in the hearts of men and women worldwide as He Himself restores His Name to their lips. We read in Jer.16:21; “Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is Yahweh.” It is Yahweh Himself that is causing people in these latter days to know that His Name is “Yahweh.” Again, we read in Ezek.39:7, “So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am Yahweh, the Holy One in Israel.” We see by this verse that “the heathen shall know” that He is Yahweh. How will they know unless someone declares it to them? Yahweh Himself will declare it (or make it known) through His people that walk in His name (Mi.4:5). One of the ways to pollute Yahweh’s Name is by substituting false names and titles in its place. That causes His Name to become just the opposite of “holy” (something set apart). The Name becomes meaningless and worthless.

This substitution of error for truth is a transgression of Yahweh’s explicit command not to add to or delete from His Word. Deut.4:2 and Prov.30:5,6 read, “Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of Yahweh your Elohim which I command you” and “Every word of Elohim is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him. Add thou not unto His words, lest He reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” To remove the Tetragrammaton YHWH from the text is to delete from His Word. To substitute “LORD,” “GOD,” “Kurios,” “Adonai,” etc. in its place is to add to His Word. It is sin. Believers are to sin not. We are to worship in truth, not error.

The deletion of Yahweh’s Name has led to confusion concerning certain Scriptures. For example, the KJV of Ps.110:1 reads, “The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.” The first “LORD” is the Tetragrammaton YHWH, the Heavenly Father’s Name. The second “Lord” is the Hebrew “adoni” and is a reference to Messiah. If one does not understand that “LORD” in all capitals is a substitution for the Name, it becomes difficult to discern the difference in identities spoken of here. Acts 2:21 says, “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Since the title “Lord” is applied to Yahweh and His Son Yahshua, a superficial reading of this verse can lead one to believe Yahshua is the subject. This, however, is a quote from Joel 2:32 in which “Yahweh” is used in the Hebrew text instead of “Lord” and is a reference to Yahshua’s Father. Had the translators followed the Old Testament practice of using all capitals (LORD) it would be a little easier to know who the subject is, but they chose not to apply the same misguided reverence of the Name in the New Testament.

When the Almighty sent Moses to deliver Israel from Egypt He said, ” Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, Yahweh, Eloah of your fathers, the Eloah of Abraham, the Eloah of Isaac, and the Eloah of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations” (Ex.3:15). “Yahweh” is the Name Israel was to know and remember their Mighty One by. Since there was no other being, man or deity, bearing that Name in this universe, it would be very valuable and concise in identifying who they worshiped. Does “the LORD” identify Yahweh? “Baal” means “lord” in Hebrew. If I say, “I worship the Lord,” who do I mean, Yahshua, Baal, Yahweh, Lord Krishna? But if I say, “I worship Yahweh,” there is no question who I worship. This memorial Name will last forever (Ps.135:13) regardless of the many attempts by man and Satan to hide it or destroy it. Those that do remember His Name will have their own names entered into a special “book of remembrance” (Mal.3:16).

Yahweh’s Name is so important that it is used as a seal to protect the servants of Yahweh. In Rev.7:3 we see the 144,000 receiving a mark in their foreheads. Rev.14:1 reveals that mark to be the Heavenly Father’s Name written in their foreheads. I believe this is symbolic of knowing and calling upon through daily use the Name “Yahweh.” Without that seal the 144,000 would receive the trumpet judgments just as the wicked will (Rev.9:4). Those that overcome will also have the Father’s Name written upon their foreheads (Rev.3:12; 22:4).

Yahweh’s Name appears over 6,800 times in the Old Testament Hebrew. I believe it was inspired to be written for two reasons; 1) To identify the Creator and Elohim of Israel, 2) So readers of Scripture would vocalize the Name. With the deletion of the Name neither of these reasons can be realized. The appearance of the Tetragrammaton within the Hebrew text then becomes needless. Man has exalted his will over the Almighty’s, his traditions over the commands of Yahweh, and substituted words of his own choosing (words, incidentally, that neither translate nor transliterate the Tetragrammaton).

Ps.68:4 is one of the 613 positive commandments found in Scripture. It reads, “Sing unto Elohim, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name YAH, and rejoice before him.” Not only are we to extol Him by His Name, we are to exalt, praise, love, hallow, sanctify, declare, magnify, know, and walk in, the Name of Yahweh (Is.12:4; Ps.113:1; Is.56:6; Mt.6:9; Is.29:23; Jn.17:26; 2 Sam.7:26; Jer.16:21; Mal.4:5).

Finally, please consider the issue of imparting the blessing upon people. In Num.6:22-27 we read, “And Yahweh spoke unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, In this way you shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, Yahweh bless thee, and keep thee: Yahweh make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: Yahweh lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel ; and I will bless them.” Not only does this command from the Almighty teach us how to impart the blessing on others, it identifies who it is we are requesting the blessing from. But more importantly, verse 27 teaches us that Yahweh’s Name must be “put..upon” the recipient. This is accomplished by the laying on of hands and vocalizing or invoking the Sacred Name “Yahweh.” When that procedure is followed in obedience to Yahweh’s directions, He will act favorably upon our request and will indeed bless the recipient.

The Sacred Name doctrine is one of the most important teachings found in Scripture. To treat Yahweh’s Holy Name lightly is a grave mistake. To reject its use in favor of false titles and false names is to belittle its importance and consider it a vain thing (nothingness, emptiness, worthless).

If you are calling your Heavenly Father by generic, man-made titles, I admonish you to prayerfully and carefully consider what you have just read. The Sacred Name can easily be restored to your lips if you will allow the Holy Spirit to lead you into this great truth.

This study is a refutation to another study entitled, “The Two Jehovahs of the Psalms: The Scriptural Evidence of the Duality of God” . I consider the study in question to be extremely poor “scholarship” and full of assumptions and false statements. The study in question will be in bold print and my refutation in plain print.

The author’s intent is seen in the following statement;

“This study presents irrefutable Scriptural evidence of the eternal existence of Jesus Christ and the co-equality that He shared with the Father as one of the two Jehovahs of the Old Testament.”

Irrefutable Scriptural evidence? Not only will this reply easily refute that supposed “evidence,” but it will also show how unscriptural the “evidence” is.

“The Jehovah who later became the Christ guided the Sopherim in their work on the Old Testament.”

This type of unsubstantiated statement is woven throughout the study as though it were fact. How does the author know it was not the “other” Jehovah who guided the Sopherim? He doesn’t. This is just one of many statements based on wishful thinking.

“The priests had such little regard for God’s name that they “snivelled” at the importance of God’s altar. “But ye have profaned it [Me], in that ye say, ‘The table [altar] of the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah] is polluted; and the fruit thereof, even His meat, is contemptible.’ Ye said also, ‘Behold, what a weariness is it!’ and ye have snuffed [an archaism for sniffed or puffed, meaning to show disdain and scorn by snivelling or pooh-poohing] at it [God's altar], saith the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah] of hosts…” (Mal. 1:12-13).”

Throughout this study, the author claims “Jehovah” is Hebrew for “the LORD.” How can it be Hebrew if Hebrew does not have a letter “J” or the “J” sound as in “jet”?

The preface of the Revised Standard Version of the Bible, pp. 7 says; “The word “Jehovah” does not accurately represent any form of the Name ever used in Hebrew.”

The Encyclopedia Britannica, Vol. 12, says; “The pronunciation ‘Jehovah’ is an error resulting among Christians from combining the consonants YHWH with the vowels of ‘adonay.’ “

In other words, “Jehovah” is a linguistic impossibility. It is not Hebrew for “the LORD.”

It seems to me that the author is the one who has “little regard for God’s name.” This can readily be seen by several remarks he makes against the use of the Name. That, however, is another subject. I merely pointed this out to give an example of this author’s poor scholarship and false statements. My refutation will use “Yahweh” in reference to “the LORD.

The Jehovahs of Psalm 110“Psalm 110 gives us undeniable Scriptural evidence that there were two divine Beings Who were both known as Jehovah in Old Testament times. In the first verse of Psalm 110, David was inspired to prophesy that a divine Being called Adon would be invited to sit at the right hand of a divine Being called Jehovah. In the original Hebrew text, the same divine Being Who is called Adon in Verse 1 is called Jehovah in Verse 5. Psalm 110 is actually describing one Jehovah sitting beside another Jehovah! The word Jehovah in Verse 5, however, was altered by the Levitical Massorites to read Adonay. The Levites were hiding the truth that the Adon of Verse 1 was a second Jehovah!”

First, where does it say the being addressed as “my Lord” is a divine being? This is an assumption. We know that “my Lord” refers to the Messiah who, after his resurrection, sat on the right hand of Yahweh. The Messiah is the Son of the only divine being that exists (Yahweh). Men can choose to call other beings divine, but that does not make them divine. My Thompson Chain Reference Bible uses the following title for the Book of Revelation; “The Revelation of Saint John the Divine.” Is John divine? To be divine, one must be “Elohim Almighty.” Since the Scriptures clearly teach there is only one Elohim (Monotheism) and that Messiah is that one Elohim’s Son, then the Messiah cannot be divine. Also, capitalizing “Adon,” as this author does, only serves to mislead his readers into more readily accepting this being as divine.

Second, “adon” is not used in Psalm 110:1. A variation of it is used (adonî ).

Third, the use of “adoni” does not necessarily imply divinity or identification as Yahweh. Below are many examples of the same Hebrew word (adoni) used for men (my master, my lord).

Ge 24:36 – “And Sarah my master’s wife bare a son to my master when she was old: and unto him hath he given all that he hath.”

Ge 24:54 – “And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and tarried all night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto my master.”

Ge 24:56 – “And he said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing Yahweh hath prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master.”

Ge 32:4 – “And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:”

Ge 32:5 – “And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.”

Ge 32:18 – “Then thou shalt say, They be thy servant Jacob’s; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.”

Ge 44:9 – “With whomsoever of thy servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord’s bondmen.”

Ge 44:16 – “And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? Elohim hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord’s servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.”

Ge 44:33 – “Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.”

1Sa 24:6 – “And he said unto his men, Yahweh forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, Yahweh’s anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of Yahweh.”

1Sa 25:27 – “And now this blessing which thine handmaid hath brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow my lord.”

1Sa 25:28 – “I pray thee, forgive the trespass of thine handmaid: for Yahweh will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth the battles of Yahweh, and evil hath not been found in thee all thy days.”

1Sa 25:30 – “And it shall come to pass, when Yahweh shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel;”

1Sa 25:31 – “That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offense of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my lord hath avenged himself: but when Yahweh shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thine handmaid.”

2Sa 4:8 – “And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and Yahweh hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.”

2Sa 19:28 – “For all of my father’s house were but dead men before my lord the king: yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet to cry any more unto the king?”

1Ki 1:2 – “Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.”

1Ki 18:13 – “Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of Yahweh, how I hid an hundred men of Yahweh’s prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?”

1Ki 20:9 – “Wherefore he said unto the messengers of Benhadad, Tell my lord the king, All that thou didst send for to thy servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again.”

1Ch 21:3 – “And Joab answered, Yahweh make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lordthe king, are they not all my lord’s servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?”

Fourth, the statement, “In the original Hebrew text, the same divine Being Who is called Adon in Verse 1 is called Jehovah in Verse 5” is absolutely false! Here is how the author comes to that conclusion;

“The Lord [Hebrew Adonay, originally Jehovah, referring to the Messiah] at Thy [the first Jehovah's] right hand shall strike through kings in the day of His wrath. He [Jehovah, the Messiah] shall judge among the heathen, He shall fill the places with the dead bodies; He shall wound the heads over many countries. He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall He lift up the head” (Psa. 110:5-7).”

Notice the grievous mistake he makes by reversing the identity of each being! This sets the stage for the rest of his false conclusions concerning two “Jehovahs” in the Psalms. In reality, “The Lord” (correctly “Yahweh”) refers to the Father and “thy” refers to the Messiah.

Note the context of verses 1-5.

1. “Yahweh said unto my [adoni], Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.”

“Thou,” “thy” and “thine” refer to “adoni” (Messiah).

2. “Yahweh shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.”

“Thy,” “thou” and “thine” refer to Messiah.

3. “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.”

All three uses of “thy” and the word “thou” refer to Messiah

4. “Yahweh hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.”

“Thou” refers to Messiah.

5. “[Adonay] (correctly “Yahweh”) at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.”

The Sopherim replaced “Yahweh” with “adonay” in this verse. Yet, here again, “thy” refers to Messiah, not Yahweh. The question is, how are we to understand this particular verse? If verse one teaches us that Messiah is to sit at Yahweh’s right hand, does verse 5 teach the opposite, that Yahweh is at Messiah’s right hand making Messiah at Yahweh’s left hand? Absolutely not.

The phrase “at thy right hand” is a Hebrew idiom meaning source of strength. Below are a few examples of this idiom from the Psalms.

Ps 16:8 – “I have set Yahweh always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.”

The speaker will not be moved because Yahweh is his strength.

Ps 109:6 – “Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.”

The wicked derive their strength from Satan.

Ps 109:30,31 – “I will greatly praise Yahweh with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude. For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.”

The poor have Yahweh as their strength, to aid and uphold them.

When Psalm 110:1-5 is rightly understood, we prophetically see only one Yahweh speaking to the future Messiah.

The author then attempts to find support for his view in the New Testament.

“In Christ’s quotation of Psalm 110 in the Gospel of Matthew, we find the Greek word Kurios, or Lord, used in place of the Old Testament name Jehovah. The Greek word Kurios, the equivalent of Jehovah, is also used in place of the name Adon. Here is New Testament confirmation that the name Jehovah applies equally to the Adon in Verse 1 of Psalm 110!

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose Son is He? They say unto Him, The son of David. He saith unto them, How then doth David in Spirit call Him Lord [Greek Kurios, equivalent to Hebrew Jehovah], saying, The Lord [Greek Kurios, or Jehovah the Father] said unto my Lord [Greek Kurios, or Jehovah the Son], Sit Thou [the Son] on My right hand, till I [the Father] make Thine enemies Thy footstool? If David then call Him Lord [Greek Kurios, or Jehovah], how is He [the Messiah] his Son? And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions” (Mat. 22:41-46).”

Here he makes two mistakes which are the fruit of his first mistake in Psalm 110. Since, in his view, there were two Jehovahs in Ps 110:1, and both are translated “Kurios” in Greek, he concludes “Adon” = “Jehovah.”

Mistake 1) The Greek of Mt.22:44 does not have “Kurios” for both beings. It has “Kurios” (kuriov ) for “Yahweh”, but it has “kurio” (kuriw ) for “adoni.”

Mistake 2) “kuriw” is also used for men throughout the Septuagint Greek. For example, Gen 32:4 says, “And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord (kuriw) Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:”

Using this author’s logic, Esau would have to be another “Jehovah” as well.

The word “ kuriw ” was also used in the Septuagint version of Ps 110:1 as a translation of the Hebrew “adoni.” The Hebrew makes a clear distinction between “Yahweh” and “adoni” by the words that were used. The Septuagint and the Greek of Mt 22:44 don’t make that distinction as clear because men chose to transgress Yahweh’s commandment found in Deut 4:2 which reads;

“Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of Yahweh your Elohim which I command you.”

Had this commandment been obeyed by not removing the Name “Yahweh” from the text and replacing it with man made titles such as “Adonay,” “Kurios,” and “the LORD,” false doctrines like “two Jehovahs in the Psalms” wouldn’t be possible.

The Jehovahs of Psalm 2“I will declare the decree: the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Father of the Messiah] hath said unto Me [the Messiah], Thou art My Son [quoted in Acts 13:33, Hebrews 1:5; 5:5]; this day have I begotten Thee. Ask of Me [the Father], and I shall give Thee [the Son] the heathen for Thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for Thy possession. Thou [the Son] shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel [quoted by the resurrected Christ in Revelation 2:26-27]. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Son] with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and ye perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him [the Son]” (Psa. 2:7-12).

These verses in Psalm 2 clearly reveal that there were two Jehovahs in Old Testament times. When we examine the context in which the name Jehovah is used, it is evident that the Jehovah in Verse 7 is the divine Being Who would become the Father of the Messiah, and that the Jehovah in Verse 11 is the divine Being Who would become the Messiah, His Son. In Verses 7-9, we find the Jehovah Who would become the Son declaring what the first Jehovah, His future Father, had decreed.”

The author continues to build upon his previous mistakes. He is so certain that there are two Jehovahs in Psalm 110 that his preconceived erroneous idea influences his understanding of the Psalms. He now begins searching through all Psalms for possible places where two Jehovahs can fit into his theology. He chooses Psalm 2 because it contains a reference to Messiah (vs 12) that is adjacent to a verse referring to Yahweh (vs 11). It fits his theology to say verse 11 refers to “Jehovah, the Son” and so, “presto,” two Jehovahs!

Throughout Psalm 2, a distinction is made between Yahweh and “Messiah. In verse 2, there is Yahweh and “his anointed.” In verse 6, there is Yahweh (“I”) and his “king.” In verse 7, there is Yahweh and his “Son.” Verses 11 and 12 simply continue that distinction. We are to serve Yahweh the Father and we are to “kiss” (pay homage to) his Son. There is nothing in Psalm 2 to suggest two “Jehovahs.”

The author goes on to “prove” his point by making the Apostle Paul say what he wants him to say.

“Jesus Christ is fully divine. The apostle Paul testifies that “in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” (Col. 2:9). He was not resurrected with a glorified body that transcends human flesh but is less than God. He is not a “new creature” in a mythical category between angels and human beings. He is God.”

Paul leaves no room for doubt! When Paul quoted Psalm 2 in his epistle to the Hebrews as evidence that Jesus is the glorified Son, he also quoted Psalm 45 to show that the Son is God: “But unto the Son He saith, Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Thy Kingdom” (Heb.1:8).”

First, if the Son is “God” and the Father is “God,” then we have two “Gods.” Yet, there are many Scriptures, both Old and New Testament, declaring there is only ONE “God” (Elohim). Here are just two of them;

“Ye are my witnesses, saith Yahweh, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.” Isa 43:10 KJV

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Messiah Yahshua;” 1Tim 2:5 KJV

For further study on this, please read my study on Monotheism.

Second, if Paul wrote Hebrews, he is not saying Messiah is divine. He is simply saying the the fullness of the only divine being, Yahweh, dwells in him.

Third, in what sense does Psalm 45 show Messiah is “God,” or “elohim” as the Hebrew reads? It is a Scriptural fact that the word “elohim” was applied to men and angels as well as to Yahweh. A good example is found in Ps 82:6;

“I have said, Ye are gods [elohim]; and all of you are children of the most High.”

The Messiah quoted this verse in John 10:34. However, he followed it by saying in verse 35,

“If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;”

In other words, Elohim, Yahweh Himself, called the children of Israel “gods” (Hebrew – elohim). Yet, the children of Israel are not elohim as Yahweh is Elohim. Then there would be a plethora of elohim. Even two “Gods” is one too many since the Scriptures clearly declare there is only ONE “God.”

Yahshua the Messiah is a “god” or an elohim in that he is a mighty one among the nations, but he is not “Elohim” in the sense that Yahweh is. Even Yahshua himself declared there is only ONE true Elohim in John 17:3;

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true Elohim, and Yahshua Messiah, whom thou hast sent.”

Since Heb 1:8 and Ps 45:6 are NOT declaring Messiah is Elohim in the sense that Yahweh is Elohim, there are no grounds to justify two Jehovahs in Psalm 2.

Before moving on to Psalm 16, notice something else about Psalm 45. Verse 7 says,

“Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore elohim, thy Elohim, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.”

This verse declares that Messiah has an Elohim when it says “thy Elohim.” The fact that Yahshua has an Elohim shows him to be inferior to the being who is his Elohim. If the two were dwelling throughout all eternity as “Jehovah” with co-equality, one could not be the Elohim of the other.

The Jehovahs of Psalm 16“Psalm 16 begins with David’s prayer to God. In Verse 2, David addresses his God both as “Lord” [Jehovah] and as “my Lord.” David is clearly speaking to the same divine Being Who is called “my Lord” in Verse 1 of Psalm 110.”

The author continues going through Psalms in search of “proof.” He comes across another Messianic Psalm and continues to rely on his erroneous conclusion in Psalm 110. Had this author built upon a firm foundation of truth (the truth that there is only one Yahweh in Ps 110 and one true “Elohim” in Scripture) he wouldn’t end up with a theological position that is untenable.

“Preserve me, O God [Hebrew El, the future Messiah]: for in Thee do I put my trust. O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the future Messiah], Thou art my Lord [Hebrew Adonay, originally Jehovah]: my goodness extendeth not to [beyond] Thee; but to [concerning] the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom [them] is all my delight. Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips. The LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the future Messiah] is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: Thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. I will bless the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the future Messiah], who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons” (Psa. 16:1-7).”

At this point, the author says David stops speaking about the future Messiah. I do not see any reason to suggest the Yahweh of verses 1-7 is a different Yahweh than the one in verse 8. Do you? The author does because he has a preconceived idea in his mind that he is determined to prove true. He continues;

“I [the Messiah] have set the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Father] always before Me: because He [the Father] is at My right hand, I [the Messiah] shall not be moved. Therefore My heart is glad, and My glory rejoiceth: My flesh also shall rest in hope [prophesying His death]. For Thou [the Father] wilt not leave My soul in hell [the grave]; neither wilt Thou [the Father] suffer Thine Holy One [the Messiah] to see corruption [prophesying His resurrection]. Thou [the Father] wilt show Me [the Messiah] the path of life [prophesying His ascension]: in Thy presence is fulness of joy; at Thy [the Father's] right hand [where the Messiah sits] there are pleasures for evermore” (Psa. 16:8-11).

“None can deny that these verses written by David are an inspired prophecy in which one Jehovah, the future Messiah, is speaking to another Jehovah, the future Father.”

I certainly can deny that. It is true that verses 8-11 are an inspired prophecy of the future Messiah speaking to the future Father, but to say the future Messiah is another “Jehovah” is pure assumption and wishful thinking.

The author then continues to provide “absolute Scriptural verification” of his belief.

“Any who doubt that these verses prophesy a future Father/Son relationship between two divine Beings need only turn to the New Testament to find absolute Scriptural verification. Inspired interpretations of Psalm 16 by both Peter and Paul have been preserved for us in the book of Acts. Let us first examine the testimony of the apostle Peter as recorded in Acts 2.

How Peter Interpreted Psalm 16

In Acts 2, we find Peter’s inspired sermon on the day of Pentecost, in which he proclaimed Jesus Christ as the Jehovah/Messiah of Psalm 16, Who had been resurrected from the grave by Jehovah the Father.”

As you read Peter’s testimony, see if you can find where he “proclaimed Jesus Christ as the Jehovah/Messiah of Psalm 16.”

“Here is Peter’s testimony: “For David speaketh concerning Him [not about David], I [the Messiah] foresaw the Lord always before My face, for He is on My right hand, that I should not be moved: therefore did My heart rejoice, and My tongue was glad; moreover also My flesh shall rest in hope: because Thou wilt not leave My soul in hell [the grave], neither wilt Thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption….He [David] seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that His soul was not left in hell [the grave], neither His flesh did see corruption. This Jesus hath God [Greek Theos, the Father] raised up, whereof we all are witnesses” (Acts 2:25- 27, 31-32).”

Did you find it? If you couldn’t, you’re not alone. Yes. Peter proclaims Ps 16:10 refers to Messiah, but he does NOT identify Messiah as “Jehovah.”

The Jehovahs of Psalm 22The author contends that verses 1-25 are the future Messiah’s words to his Father, but that verses 26-31 are the words of David concerning the Messiah. He writes;

“The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, referring to the Son] that seek Him: your heart shall live for ever. All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Son]: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before Thee [the Son]. For the kingdom is the LORD’S [Hebrew Jehovah's, referring to the Son]: and He [the Son] is the Governor among the nations. All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before Him [the Son]: and none can keep alive his own soul. A seed shall serve Him [the Son]; it shall be accounted to the Lord [Hebrew Adonay, originally Jehovah, referring to the Son] for a generation. They shall come, and shall declare His righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that He [the Son] hath done this” (Psa. 22:26-31).

Go to your Bible and read Psalm 22 again in its entirety and decide for yourself if the Messiah suddenly stops speaking in verse 26 and David begins. The truth is that Messiah is speaking throughout this entire Psalm from verse 1 to verse 31 and everything that is said about the subject of verses 26-31 is true of Yahweh the Father. Only someone seeking to prove otherwise could come to a different conclusion. Again, his understanding is an assumption based on a desire to prove there are two “Jehovahs.”

The Jehovahs of Psalm 90“LORD [Hebrew Adonay, originally Jehovah], Thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God [Hebrew El]. Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men. For a thousand years in Thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past [quoted in II Peter 3:8], and as a watch in the night” (Psa. 90:1-4).

In these verses, we do not find any direct statement to show us that the Jehovah and El Whom Moses is addressing is the future Messiah. In order to identify the divine Being of Moses’ prayer, we must look to the New Testament. It is the apostle Peter who enables us to know that Moses was addressing the Jehovah Who would become the Messiah. When Peter quoted Verse 4 of Psalm 90, it was in reference to the second coming of Jesus Christ. Peter tells us that “one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day,” and explains, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise [to return]” (II Pet. 3:8-9).

Peter’s interpretation of Moses’ words clearly identifies the Jehovah and El of Psalm 90 as the divine Being Who became Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah.

“Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up. In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth. For we are consumed by Thine anger, and by Thy wrath are we troubled. Thou hast set our iniquities before Thee, our secret sins in the light of Thy countenance. For all our days are passed away in Thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told. The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Who knoweth the power of Thine anger? even according to Thy fear, so is Thy wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Return, O LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the future Son], how long? and let it repent Thee concerning Thy servants. O satisfy us early with Thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Make us glad according to the days wherein Thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil. Let Thy work appear unto Thy servants, and Thy glory unto their children. And let the beauty of the LORD [Hebrew Adonay, originally Jehovah] our God [Hebrew Elohim] be upon us: and establish Thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish Thou it” (Psa. 90:5-17).”

The following statement is the primary reason why this author believes Psalm 90 addresses “Jehovah, the future Son.”

“It is the apostle Peter who enables us to know that Moses was addressing the Jehovah Who would become the Messiah. 3:8-9).”

First, Peter was not “quoting” from Ps 90:4. Here is Ps 90:4 from the KJV followed by 2 Pe 3:8 from the KJV;

“For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.”

“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

The Septuagint reads almost the same as the KJV.

Peter may have had Ps 90:4 in mind when he wrote, but he did not “quote” that verse.

Second, once again the author is attempting to build upon his mistake in Ps 110 by forcing a second “Jehovah” to appear in Ps 90.

Third, the context of 2 Peter 3 does not make it clear who “the Lord” refers to since that title is used of both the Father and the Son. Verse 10 mentions “the day of the Lord.” This is undoubtedly a reference to the Day of Yahweh, not the day of Messiah. Verse 12 calls it “the day of God” thereby confirming the Father is the subject, not the Son.

Fourth, the author unjustly adds the words “[to return]” to 2 Pe 3:9a. The context suggests the promise of judgment is in mind. Yahweh (the Father) will also “come” at that time to judge the world as we see in the following verses;

Isa 40:10 – “Behold, the Lord Yahweh will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.”

The phrase “his arm” is a reference to Messiah (Jn 12:38), but “the Lord Yahweh” is a reference to the Father.

Isa 66:15 – “For, behold, Yahweh will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.”

This is the language of 2 Peter 3:10-13. Yahweh the Father will come bringing judgment upon the world. He will do so through His Son Yahshua. It is the Father who is longsuffering by waiting for all to come to repentance since the flood. It is the Father who is outside the realm of time and to whom one day is as a thousand years.

The Jehovahs of Psalm 118“O give thanks unto the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah]; for He is good: because His mercy endureth for ever. Let Israel now say, that His mercy endureth for ever. Let the house of Aaron now say, that His mercy endureth for ever. Let them now that fear the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah] say, that His mercy endureth for ever. I called upon the LORD [Hebrew Jah] in distress: the LORD [Hebrew Jah] answered me, and set me in a large place. The LORD [Hebrew Jehovah] is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? [quoted in Hebrews 13:6]” (Psa.118:1-6.)”

“As noted above, Verse 6 is quoted by the apostle Paul in his epistle to the Hebrews. In this New Testament record, Paul clearly identifies the divine Being Who is called both Jehovah and Jah in the opening verse of Psalm 118. Here is Paul’s inspired testimony: “…for He [Jesus] hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my Helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me” (Heb. 13:5-6).”

The author’s main proof that the divine being of Ps 118 is “Jehovah, the Son” are two quotes from Heb 13:5,6. Notice how the author believes the “He” of Heb 13:5 is “[Jesus].” Where in the New Testament did Yahshua [Jesus] ever say that? Such a quote from Messiah cannot be found because he never said that. However, Yahweh the Father said that in several Old Testament verses (Deut 31:6,8; Josh 1:5; 1 Chr 28:20). The “He” of Heb 13:5 refers back to “God” (the Father) in verse 4.

The quote of Ps 118:6 in Heb 13:6 logically follows verse 5. Since Yahweh will never leave or forsake His people, He will always be there to help us. Therefore, we have no need to fear man.

“Paul’s inspired words clearly identify the Jehovah and Jah of Psalm 118:5-6 as the divine Being Who became the Messiah and Son–Jesus Christ. This truth is made clear in the following verses in Psalm 118, where this Jehovah is prophesied to become the Way of salvation:”

Notice how the author tries to brainwash his readers by subtly adding his own thoughts to the text. The text has not “prophesied” about “Jehovah” becoming the Way of salvation in the future. The psalmist declares that Yahweh IS presently his salvation (verses 14 and 21).

Also, the text does not use the word “Way.” It simply says, “is become my salvation” and “art become my salvation.” Does this refer to Messiah simply because the word “salvation” is used? Is not the Father our Saviour as well?

Miriam cried out,

“And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior” (Luke 1:47 KJV)

The Father Himself says,

“Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I Yahweh? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me” (Isa 45:21 KJV).

The author continues quoting Ps 118 and slipping in “Jehovah, the Son” wherever it pleases him.

“The LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Son] taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. It is better to trust in the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Son] than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Son] than to put confidence in princes. All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Son] will I destroy them. They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Son] I will destroy them. They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Son] I will destroy them. Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD[Hebrew Jehovah, the Son] helped me. The LORD [Hebrew Jah, the Son] is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Son] doeth valiantly. The right hand of the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Son] is exalted: the right hand of the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Son] doeth valiantly. I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD [Hebrew Jah, the Son]. The LORD [Hebrew Jah, the Son] hath chastened me sore: but He hath not given me over unto death. Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD [Hebrew Jah, the Son]: this gate of the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Son], into which the righteous shall enter. I will praise Thee: for Thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation” (Psa. 118:1-21).

“The concluding verses in Psalm 118 are clearly prophetic. Some of these verses were quoted by Jesus Christ and His apostles, as recorded in a number of New Testament writings. These inspired records all testify that Jesus Christ was the divine Being of Psalm 118 Who was prophesied to become the Messiah.”

He mentions how the New Testament testifies that Messiah is the divine being of Ps 118, but he doesn’t give any references as he did in the other Psalms. He undoubtedly neglected to provide this information because it is not true.

“When we read the concluding verses in Psalm 118, we find that they not only foretell the coming of the Messiah, but they also speak of the Jehovah Who will be His Father. It now becomes obvious that there are two Jehovahs in this psalm. Notice that in the following verses, the name Jehovah is no longer referring to the Son, as in the preceding verses:

“The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD’S [Hebrew Jehovah's, referring to the Father] doing; it is marvellous in our eyes [quoted in Matthew 21:42, Mark 12:10-11, Luke 20:17, Acts 4:11, I Peter 2:4). This is the day which the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Father] hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, I beseech Thee, O LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Father]: O LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Father], I beseech Thee, send now prosperity. Blessed be He [the Messiah] that cometh in the name of the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Father]: [quoted in Matthew 21:9; 23:39, Mark 11:9, Luke 13:35; 19:38, John 12:13] we have blessed You out of the house of the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Father]. God [Hebrew El] is the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Father], which hath showed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar. Thou art my God [Hebrew El], and I will praise Thee: Thou art my God [Hebrew Elohim], I will exalt Thee. O give thanks unto the LORD [Hebrew Jehovah, the Father]; for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever” (Psa. 118:22-29).

“As interpreted in the New Testament, the Jehovah in these final verses of Psalm 118 is the divine Being Who became the Father.”

Again, reference is made to the New Testament, but no evidence provided. A very convenient omission.

The author says verses 1-21 refer to the Son as “Jehovah,” but verses 22-29 refer to the Father as “Jehovah.” This is such an unnatural division and can only be suggested by a mind that is bent on proving its own preconceived idea.

Let’s conclude this study by quoting Ps 83:18:

“That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Yahweh, art the most high over all the earth.”

There is only one being in this universe who is rightfully identified as Yahweh. There is no other. It is possible that the Messiah may bear the name “Yahweh” in the future based on Jeremiah 23:6:

“In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, YAHWEH OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

However, that verse is not fulfilled at this time.

For a more in depth understanding of why Yahshua the Messiah Is Not Almighty Yahweh click here.

The following profound statement is found in the Talmud; “He who has knowledge of the Law, but no fear of [Yahweh], is like a keeper of the treasury, who has the inner keys, but not the outer keys. He cannot enter.” The speaker equates the Law with a treasure. The Psalmist felt the same way about the law when he said,

“The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver” (Ps 119:72).

The person that does not fear Yahweh cannot benefit by this treasure because he does not have access to it. Two keys are needed to profit from this treasure. The first key is the fear of Yahweh. The second key is a knowledge or understanding of the Law.

In Christianity today, both keys have been lost for several reasons. One reason is given by the Apostle Peter in 2 Pe 3:16;

“As also in all his (Paul’s) epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.”

Superficially reading Paul’s epistles has led to the erroneous belief that believers are no longer obligated to keep Yahweh’s laws. As a result of the “no law” doctrine, people no longer fear Yahweh’s wrath for breaking His laws.

Accepting the KJV as infallible and not checking the Greek to make sure words have not been added, deleted or translated incorrectly has also led to the loss of these two keys. For example, the KJV translates Rom 7:6,

“But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.”

This teaches us that the law is dead. The bold phrase should correctly read, “being dead to that,” teaching that the believer has died, not the law. This would agree with verse 4 which reads,

“Wherefore, my brethren, you also are become dead to the law by the body of Messiah.”

This study is primarily concerned with the first key; the fear of Yahweh. It is declared twice in the Scriptures that, “The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom.” The first reference is in Ps 111:10, the second is Pr 9:10. The Hebrew word translated “fear” is “yirah.” Although it can have the meaning of reverence in relation to worship, it primarily means to fear as in terror. Some examples of this fear are found in Dt 13:11; 17:13; 19:20; and 21:21. In each of these cases Yahweh decreed harsh punishment so that the people would be afraid of Him and not commit such acts again. This same reasoning is declared by Moses in Ex 20:20,

“And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for the Mighty One is come to prove you, and that His fear may be before your faces, that you sin not.”

Yahweh also worked great miracles such as parting the Red Sea so that,

“all the people of the earth might know the hand of Yahweh, that it is mighty: that ye might fear Yahweh your mighty one forever” (Josh 4:24).

This type of fear led the Psalmist to say,

“My flesh trembles for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments ” (Ps 119:120).

It is the kind of fear one of the thieves hanging beside Yahshua had. This man expected the other thief to fear Yahweh as well since he was about to die (Lu 23:40).

In regards to fearing Yahweh as a motivating factor for obedience, consider the following three verses:

Prov 3:7, “Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear Yahweh, and depart from evil.”
Prov 16:6, “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of Yahweh men depart from evil.”
Ec 12:13, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear the Mighty One, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”

Each of these verses teach us that in order to depart from evil (sin), one must fear Yahweh first. A person has to be afraid of what may happen to him if he doesn’t obey Yahweh. Indeed, this is my own testimony. The fear of Yahweh’s wrath upon me for not obeying Him was the motivating factor in my conversion. That fear, as a motivational factor, has now turned to love, as a motivational factor for obedience. That is the proper sequence that leads to true worship as revealed in Dt 10:12.

“And now, Israel, what doth Yahweh thy Mighty One require of thee, but to fear Yahweh thy Mighty One, to walk in all his ways, and to love Him, and to serve Yahweh thy Mighty One with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of Yahweh, and His statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?”

Notice the sequence taking place in the above verse. First comes the fear of Yahweh. That fear then leads to obedience to all of Yahweh’s ways. Fear eventually turns to love once a person becomes more intimate with Yahweh. At that point a person is truly serving Yahweh.

Ps 25:12 says,

“What man is he that fears Yahweh? Him shall He (Yahweh) teach in the way that He shall choose.”

Once a man fears Yahweh, Yahweh will direct his path. Verse 14 goes on to say,

“The secret of Yahweh is with them that fear Him; and He will show them His covenant.”

How true this is. Fear, terror, or dread, all lead to a healthy reverence and respect for Yahweh’s power and authority. Yahweh takes pleasure in this (Ps 147:11) and rewards those that fear Him by giving them an understanding of His covenant and laws.

As far as that initial fear turning to love, we read in 1 Jn 4:17,18,

“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear hath torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love.”

The perfection of the believer lies in the casting out of that initial fear.

Most people who attend church services today are not hearing the preaching of the fear of Yahweh. Instead, they are bombarded by the “love gospel” that teaches love without obedience to the Law. Those who hear this have no reason to fear Yahweh because they are taught that He is “Love” and full of mercy. This is true, but its only half the truth. The other half is that Yahweh’s mercy is only extended to those that fear Him (Lu 1:50) and obey Him (1 Jn 2:4 – “He that saith, ‘I know Him’, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him”).

A proper fear of Yahweh is not only the beginning of wisdom, but also, as Pr 1:7 shows, “the beginning of knowledge.” It is the fundamental key needed to unlock the deeper truths of scriptural knowledge. It is the kind of fear that Messiah Yahshua said we should have in Mt 10:28;

“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.”

It is also the kind of fear that Paul admonishes Gentile converts to have.

“Be not highminded, but fear: For if [Yahweh] spared not the natural branches, take heed lest He also spare not thee” (Ro 11:20b,21).

The “everlasting gospel” is preached by an angel in Rev 14:7 saying with a loud voice,

“Fear [Yahweh], and give glory to Him, . . .”

If men would only be wise and fear Yahweh, He would direct their steps forevermore.

“Blessed is everyone that fears Yahweh; that walk in His ways.”

Prov.30:4 – “Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?”

This is a very difficult question for the majority of the world to answer but it shouldn’t be for the Creator’s own people. The answer is to be found in the Bible, especially in the Hebrew manuscripts. Notice the question does not say, “What are His Names . It uses the singular “name” implying He only has one name that He desires to be known by.

Ps.83:16-18 – “Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD. Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.” KJV

The KJV states His name is Jehovah. But is that His correct name?

Is.42:8 – “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.” Here the Almighty declares His name through the prophet Isaiah. The KJV state His name is “The LORD.” But in Ps.83:18 that we just read, it said His name is “Jehovah.” If you check the Hebrew of both verses you will find that both LORD and Jehovah are translated from the same word [hwhy]. It is called the “tetragrammaton,” meaning “the four letters,” and it is the revealed personal name of our Heavenly Father. This name is used more than any other name in Scripture. It appears about 7,000 times in the Hebrew text of the Old Testament and it should have appeared about 100 times in the New Testament. It is pronounced Yahweh.

Lev.24:16 – “And he that blasphemeth the name of the Yahweh, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the Yahweh, shall be put to death.” The Israelites understood how holy Yahweh’s name was and had a great reverence for it. So, in an effort to avoid blaspheming the Name themselves, and in an effort to keep the heathen nations from blaspheming the Name, they began saying “adonai,” meaning “lord,” whenever they came across the tetragrammaton when reading Hebrew or whenever they referred to the Almighty in conversation. It is similar to what they did by building walls around the Sabbath to keep from polluting it.

Sometime after the 6th century C.E. a group called the Masoretes added vowel marks to the Hebrew text in an effort to preserve the current pronunciation as they knew it. The vowel marks for Adonai were inserted with the letters of the sacred name to remind the people to say Adonai when reading the name. As a result, when translators sought to translate the scriptures into other languages, they became confused. They mixed the vowels of adonai with the letters of the tetragrammaton and came up with Jehovah.

Ps.68:4 – “Sing unto Elohim, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name YAH, and rejoice before him.” Here we are told to extol Him by His name which is given as “Jah” in the KJV. It appears as “HY” in Hebrew [hy] and is pronounced “Yah.” It is the poetic short form of the Creator’s name. This short form is found within the names of many Israelites such as Isaiah meaning “Yah has saved” or Jeremiah meaning “Yah will rise.” It is also found in the word Halleluyah meaning “praise you Yah.” This short form appears about 50 times in the Hebrew text, yet the KJV allows it to appear just this once. The NIV doesn’t even allow that. Instead it has “LORD.”

The name Yahweh is not a translation of the tetragrammaton. It is a transliteration meaning the sounds of those original Hebrew letters have been reproduced into another language. Names should never be translated from one language to another. They should always be transliterated as are most Biblical names. For example, Abraham in Hebrew is pronounced Abrawhawm; Sarah is pronounced Sawraw. Today, Mikail Gorbachev’s name is the same in Russian or English. Francois Mitterand’s name is pronounced the same in France as it in Argentina. If President Clinton goes to China they will pronounce his name Clinton. They won’t change it to Chung. The name of Yahweh should be pronounced exactly the same in any language on earth, contrary to the multiplicity of names this world applies to Yahweh.

Ex.3:15 (and Ps.135:13) – “And Elohim said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, Yahweh, Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.” This verse declares Yahweh’s name to be a memorial. We are to remember Him by this name forever. If we substitute false names and titles for His memorial name, then we no longer memorialize it. The same principal holds true when people substitute Sunday for the Sabbath. They no longer memorialize creation. Ironically, Satan’s name does not change from one language to another. “Satan” is recognized in all languages. The Bible says to memorialize the Creator’s name yet, man changes His name and memorializes Satan’s name instead!

Tyndale’s Bible was the first English Bible to substitute LORD in place of Yahweh. This resulted from the fact that the Greek text was already corrupted in that it had substituted “kurios,” meaning “lord,” and “theos,” meaning “God,” in place of Yahweh’s name. The substitution of kurios and theos for the sacred name took place gradually after the first century. The earliest copies of the Septuagint (Greek translation of the O.T., 200-100 BCE) show that the sacred name was written in Hebrew letters within the Greek text. Sometimes it was written in gold letters. Aquila’s version (128 CE) and Origen’s Hexapla were also written in Greek yet, the Sacred Name was written in Hebrew directly into the Greek text.

Notice what happened when Deut.8:3b was quoted in the N.T.; The text, as it appears in the O.T. of the KJV, reads, “that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.” And, as it appears in Mt.4:4 of the KJV, “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Not only did the translators substitute “the LORD” for “Yahweh,” but they also removed “LORD” and put “God” in the N.T.. A truthful translation would have Yahweh’s name in both verses.

Ps.72:17-19 – “His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed. Blessed be Yahweh Elohim, the Elohim of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.” Despite the efforts of the forces of darkness, Yahweh’s name will endure forever. He will personally see to it that His people know His name as we read in Ezek.39:7 ; “So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am Yahweh, the Holy One in Israel. One of the ways to profane or pollute His Holy name is by applying a false name or title in its place. The time will come when Yahweh will remove these substitutes from the lips of His people.

Jer.16:19-21 – “O Yahweh, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit. Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods? Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is Yahweh.” Yahweh declares that He Himself will do the teaching concerning who He is and what His name is. He has already begun to do this with those who have accepted and use His name. But if we fight against the power of the Holy Spirit as it tries to teach us these things, then we grieve the Holy Spirit. And that is something we don’t want to do if we love Yahweh.

Notice in verse 19 that the fathers of the Gentile nations have passed down lies to their children. You and I have inherited the lies of Sunday worship, eating unclean foods, eternal hell-fire, etc. We have also inherited the lies concerning the sacred names. But Almighty Yahweh is now working to restore the truth among His people.

I’ve used the phrase “sacred names” several times in this study. Let’s turn to Mt.6:9 to find out what that means.

Mt.6:9 – “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” The word “hallowed” in Greek means to set apart for holy use. Not only is Yahweh’s name Holy, but it is to be set apart, just as the Sabbath day is set apart, for holy use. What does Yahweh say concerning those who set apart His name?

Mal.3:16,17 – “Then they that feared Yahweh spake often one to another: and Yahweh hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared Yahweh, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith Yahweh of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.” Not only will their names be written in the Book of Life, but they will also be recorded in a special Book of Remembrance because they remembered to reverence and sanctify His name. They memorialized it.

Joel 2:31,32 – “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of Yahweh come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Yahweh shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as Yahweh hath said, and in the remnant whom Yahweh shall call.” This passage was quoted by the Apostle Peter on the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2:20,21. The Hebrew text doesn’t say, “All who call upon the name of the LORD shall be delivered.” It says, “All who call upon the name of Yahweh shall be delivered.” The translators of the New Testament didn’t even have enough respect for the Name to give the word “LORD” all capital letters. In Acts 2:21, LORD is written “Lord.”

Let’s look at a few more prophetic scriptures to end this study on Yahweh’s name.

Zech.13:7-9 – “Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith Yahweh of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones. And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith Yahweh, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, Yahweh is my Elohim.” The “striking of the shepherd” in verse 7 refers to the death of Messiah resulting in the scattering of his disciples. Verses 8 & 9 have not been fulfilled yet, but when they are the refined saints will be calling upon the holy name Yahweh. This remnant that is saved will have the Heavenly Father’s name written on their foreheads as we see in Rev.14:1 . Notice the seal that is placed on the forehead of the 144,000 is not the seal of sabbath keeping, but instead, the sacred names of Yahweh and Yahshua. It is true that to be among the 144,000 sealed in Rev.7 you must be a sabbath keeper, but that is not the seal.

Mic.4:5 – “For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of Yahweh our Elohim for ever and ever.” This is exactly what is happening today. All nations have a name for their particular god who they say created the universe. But His people know Him by His personal revealed name. And that name is Yahweh.

The Apostle Paul said, in 1 Cor.8:5, “For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,).” If we do not clearly identify the individual that we worship, how can one be sure which one of the many gods and lords we worship? Satan is called a god (2 Cor. 4:4). Dagon and Molech are also called gods in the Bible. Since that is true, can we continue to call our Heavenly Father “God.” The practice of capitalizing the “G” in God or capitalizing all the letters of LORD does not make that His true name nor does it clearly identify Yahweh.

Yahweh’s name is holy just as the Sabbath is holy. It must be sanctified or set apart just as the Sabbath is. According to Ezekiel, the very purpose of the regathering of Israel and the New Covenant is to sanctify Yahweh’s great name (Ezek.36:20-27 ).

Many people are under the mistaken belief that Yahweh is a Hebrew name and, since they don’t speak Hebrew, they shouldn’t have to use it. Using that logic, these same people should not say Satan, Abraham, Sarah, Abel, or even hallelujah, all of which are pure Hebrew. In Gen.4:1, Eve said, “I have gotten a man from Yahweh.” Even before a Hebrew ever existed on earth, the name Yahweh was being used. Yahweh told Adam and Eve what His name was and that is what they called Him. The name finds its origin in heaven itself. If Adam and Eve were Chinese, would that make Yahweh a Chinese name? Simply because Yahweh’s name is revealed to us through Hebrew manuscripts does not make it a Hebrew name.

Finally, to sum up why all this error concerning Yahweh’s name has come about, we need to read Yahweh’s commandment found in Deut.4:2 and the chapter we began this study with, Prov.30:5,6 -

“Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of Yahweh your Elohim which I command you.” (Deut.4:2)

“Every word of Elohim is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” (Prov.30:5-6)

The Holy Spirit inspired “Yahweh” to be written in the sacred text. It was the purest word in all of scripture. Yet man broke Yahweh’s commandment and removed that Holy name from His word and substituted a false name, Jehovah, and false titles, LORD and God. The people who did that and those that continue to propagate the error will be found to be liars.

Blessed be His Holy Name forever. HalleluYah!

Ex.33:11a reads, “And Yahweh spoke unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend.”

Such a statement is explained in theological terms as a “theophany.” A theophany refers to either a visible or auditory manifestation of the Almighty. It is a combination of two Greek words, “theo” referring to deity and “phaino” meaning to shine or appear. “Christophany” is another theological term used to refer to either a visible or auditory manifestation of the preincarnate “Christ.” A ‘christophany’ is one interpretation of a ‘theophany.’ Neither word is found in Scripture. They are simply man’s attempt to define and explain something they don’t understand. The Scriptures do not leave us in the dark concerning these ‘appearances’ of Almighty Yahweh.

Let’s begin by trying to understand theophanies and whether or not they can be actual appearances of Yahweh, the one true Elohim. The Bible makes it quite clear that no man has ever seen or heard Yahweh. Consider the following verses;

Exodus 33:20 – “And He said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.”

John 1:18 – “No man hath seen Elohim at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared Him.”

John 5:37 – “And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His shape.”

John 6:46 – “Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of Elohim, he hath seen the Father.”

1 Jn. 4:12 – “No man hath seen Elohim at any time. If we love one another, Elohim dwelleth in us, and His love is perfected in us.”

1Tim 1:17 – “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise Elohim, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

1 Tim.6:16 – ” Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.”

That being the case, how can it be said that Yahweh spoke to Moses “face to face”? Similar statements were made in Gen.32:30, Deut.34:10, and Num.12:6-8. Moses himself helps to explain this in Deut.5:4; “Yahweh talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire.” He was referring to the giving of the Ten Commandments in Ex.20. Upon completion of Israel hearing those words, Yahweh told Moses to say to the children of Israel, “You have seen that I have talked to you from heaven” (Ex.20:22).

Although it is said that Yahweh spoke “face to face” with the children of Israel, they did not actually see him as one sees with the eyes. Deut.4:12,15,16 read, “And Yahweh spoke unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice. . .Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that Yahweh spoke unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire: Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female.” Yahweh would not allow the children of Israel to see any likeness of Himself because He knew they would then make an image of Him and worship it. And although Yahweh said He “talked” to them (Deut.5:4), it was not Yahweh’s actual voice they were hearing. Not only is this confirmed by Jn.5:37, but by Acts 7:38,53 as well. “This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spoke to him in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us: . . .Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.”

It was actually angels that spoke with Moses and the fathers of Israel. Therefore, Paul tells us the law was “ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator (Moses)” (Gal.3:19). “Ordained” is from the Greek “diatasso” meaning “to command”. Again, we read in Heb.2:2, “For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; . . .” It is clear that Yahweh spoke the law to Israel through angels. Yahweh Himself was never heard nor seen.

Concerning Gen.32:24 where Jacob wrestled with a “man”, he said he saw “Elohim face to face“. Yet, in Hos.12:3,4a, we find out it wasn’t Elohim (Yahweh), but an angel that he wrestled with; “He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with Elohim: Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed:”

The thought will then come to mind that the Scriptures cannot be true since they contradict each other. In one place it is said Yahweh spoke face to face, but in another it really wasn’t Yahweh, but an angel. If we try to understand this from a Western mind set, from our cultural perspective, it is difficult to understand. Not so from Middle Eastern thought. This is what is known as the “law of agency”. “The main point of the Jewish law of agency is expressed in the dictum “A person’s agent is regarded as the person himself” (Ned.72b; Kidd.41b).” The Encyclopedia of the Jewish Religion, Adama Books, New York, NY, 1986, pg.15. The angels that spoke the law were Yahweh’s agents or representatives. As such, they had full authority to not only speak in His name, but to seemingly appropriate His name as in Ex.20:2; “I am Yahweh thy Elohim, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.” They were speaking exactly what Yahweh wanted them to say.

Consider Ex.23:20-23 – “Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries. For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.” The “angel” (Heb. malak – messenger) would actually speak to Israel, but Yahweh says, “all that I speak.” Yahweh would command the angel what to say and he would say it.

The same is true of our Savior Yahshua. He said in Jn.12:49,50; “For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”

The “angel of Yahweh” is a very interesting figure in Scripture. Let’s look at a few passages referring to him.

Gen.22:10-12 – “And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of Yahweh called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest Elohim, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.”

Gen.31:10-13 – “And it came to pass at the time that the cattle conceived, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the rams which leaped upon the cattle were ringstraked, speckled, and grisled. And the angel of Elohim spoke unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I. And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle are ringstraked, speckled, and grisled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee. I am the El of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.”

Jud.2:1,4 – “And an angel of Yahweh came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you. . . And it came to pass, when the angel of Yahweh spoke these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.”

In each of these instances the angel of Yahweh spoke as though he were Yahweh. We know from several other Scriptures that the angel of Yahweh cannot be Yahweh Himself. Aside from the references stating that no man has seen or heard Elohim (Yahweh), we have two other examples proving this to be true. In 2 Sam.24:16, Yahweh speaks to the angel of Yahweh saying, “It is enough: stay now thine hand.” Then, in Zech.1:12, the angel of Yahweh speaks to Yahweh saying, “O Yahweh of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?” These two references show the angel of Yahweh to be a separate being from Yahweh.

We also have a reference suggesting Yahshua is not the angel of Yahweh. Mt.28:2,3 states, “And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of Yahweh descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: . . . And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Yahshua, which was impaled. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Master lay.” The angel could not say, “He is not here” if he were Yahshua. In fact, Heb.1:1 – 2:2 suggest Yahshua was not an angel of any sort. Heb.2:2 tells us the word was “spoken by angels”. This is referring to the giving of the law at Mt.Sinai as we have already seen. But Heb.1:1,2 tell us Yahweh spoke through prophets (and angels, Heb.2:2) in the era preceding Messiah. Yahshua was not the spokesman throughout the Old Testament as many like to teach. He is the New Testament spokesman.

Let’s look at Ex.13:21; “And Yahweh went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:” This verse seems to imply Yahweh led Israel out of Egypt via a pillar of cloud and a pillar of fire. However, Ex.14:19 and Num.20:16 inform us that, in reality, it was an angel that led Israel;

“And the angel of Elohim, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:” (Ex.14:19)

“And when we cried unto Yahweh, He heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border:” (Num.20:16).

There are those who teach it was the preincarnate Messiah who led and followed Israel based on 1 Cor.10:4. We have already seen, however, that Yahshua was not an angel, nor a spokesman during the exodus. Click here for an explanation of this passage and many other misunderstood verses.

Another “theophany” is found in Ex.3. From Ex.3:4 – 4:17 Yahweh is having a conversation with Moses. He even reveals to Moses the phrase “I AM” or “I will be” (Ex.3:14) and His memorial name, “Yahweh” (Ex.3:15). Yet, in verse 2 of chapter 3, we see it is actually “the angel of Yahweh” that appears in the burning bush and talks to Moses. This is confirmed again in Acts 7:35; “This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did Elohim send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.” As Yahweh’s agent or chosen representative, the angel had full authority to command Moses and to use Yahweh’s name.

This brings us to perhaps the favorite “theophany/christophany” of all, Gen.18:1; “And Yahweh appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;” A footnote in the “Hebrew Greek Key Study Bible ” concerning Gen.18:1-33 reads, “Did Abraham actually see and talk with God? Does this contradict John 1:18, “No man hath seen God at any time”? This theophany (appearance of God to man) in the OT is believed to have been Christ.” Is this possible? Could this have been the preincarnate Messiah? The answer is no, unless you read Messiah into the text and assume it was him in order to support a preconceived idea or doctrine. There is nothing in these verses to lead one to that conclusion.

Three “men” confront Abraham. Two of them are later seen to be angels (Gen.18:22;19:1) while one remained who Abraham addressed as “Yahweh” (Gen.18:22,26,33). If one was going to assume anything, there would be more grounds to assume the third man was an angel as well rather than the preincarnate Messiah. We cannot build doctrines such as “christophanies” based on assumptions and wishful thinking.

It is clear that Abraham was not seeing Yahweh, nor was he actually hearing Yahweh’s voice. Therefore, it could not have been a “theophany,” an appearance of the one true Elohim, because no such possibility exists while we are yet flesh and blood. Yahweh Himself says in Ex.33:20, “Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.”

In Gen.18:1, Yahweh had to be speaking through one of His agents. The question would then be, was that agent an angel or the preincarnate Messiah? In all other supposed theophanies, Scriptures revealed it was an angel speaking or being seen. To suggest this instance is any different is grasping at air. The thought that Yahshua pre-existed his earthly birth is a fable of men based on misunderstood and/or poorly translated verses. The fact of the matter is the Bible does not identify the figure in Gen.18:1. It only tells us it could not be Yahweh. To suggest it is the preincarnate Messiah is just that, a suggestion or a guess, and nothing more.

Finally, let’s conclude with Num.12:6-8; “And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I Yahweh will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of Yahweh shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” Verse 6 tells us the normal way a person would see Yahweh is via a vision or dream. We see this in Ex.24:10,11 by the Hebrew words used; “And they saw the Elohim of Israel: and there was under His feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in His clearness. And upon the nobles of the children of Israel He laid not His hand: also they saw Elohim, and did eat and drink.” In what way did they see the Elohim of Israel who is Yahweh?

The words translated “saw” in both verses can have several meanings. “Ra’ah” (Strong’s #7200) is used far more than any other word for the act of a prophet when receiving Yahweh’s word. (See Isa.6:1; Jer.1:11; Ezek.1:1). A derivative of “ra’ah”, “ro’eh” (seer) is used as a name for a prophet. It suggests the act of receiving Yahweh’s messages via visions and dreams. (See 1 Sam.9:9,11,18,19).

“Chazah” (#2372) is used of the revelatory visions granted by Yahweh to His chosen messengers. (See Num.24:4,16; Isa.1:1; Dan.2:26; Amos 1:1; Zech.10:2). A derivation of “chazah,” “chozeh,” was also used of prophets and translated “seer” as was ‘ro’eh’ (#7203). (See 2 Sam.24:11; 2 Chr.35:15).

The Scriptures declare that people have seen Elohim or have seen Yahweh. If it was not, in fact, an angel of Yahweh they were seeing, then they were seeing Yahweh in a vision or dream as Solomon did in 1 Kgs.11:9; 3:5; 9:2. They were certainly not seeing Him in all His glory with their naked eye (their normal vision).

Moses, however, was different. He was permitted to “see” a “similitude” of Yahweh. A similitude is not the real thing. It is an image or likeness of the true. The golden calf was an image or likeness of a real calf. A reflection in a mirror is an image or similitude of the true. Moses could not and did not see the full glory or essence of Yahweh. He was permitted to see only His “back parts” (Ex.33:23). In other words, Moses saw a small trace of Yahweh’s glory as it was leaving the scene. That tiny trace of fleeting glory was enough to cause his face to shine. A good analogy of this is seeing the wake of a passing ship, but not the ship itself. You can be splashed and tossed around quite easily by that wake even though it was only a small trace of the power of the ship itself.

In summation, Yahweh, the Elohim of Israel and Heavenly Father of our Savior Yahshua, was never seen or heard by man. He used angels and prophets to speak to man prior to Yahshua and He has spoken through His Son ever since. Therefore, there are no theophanies in Scripture. He never used His Son to speak in Old Testament times because His Son did not come into existence until his earthly birth. Therefore, there are no christophanies in Scripture.

“In the beginning Elohim [Yahweh, Gen.2:4] created the heaven and the earth” (Gen.1:1).

“And Elohim [Yahweh, Gen.2:4] said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so” (Gen.1:11).

“And Elohim [Yahweh, Gen.2:4] made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also” (Gen.1:16).

“And Elohim [Yahweh, Gen.2:4] created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and Elohim saw that it was good” (Gen.1:21 ).

“And Elohim [Yahweh, Gen.2:4] made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and Elohim saw that it was good” (Gen.1:25).

“So Elohim [Yahweh, Gen.2:4] created man in his own image, in the image of Elohim created he him; male and female created he them” (Gen.1:27).

“These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Yahweh Elohim made the earth and the heavens, . . . ” (Gen.2:4).

“And Yahweh Elohim formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul” (Gen.2:7).

“And Yahweh Elohim said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. . . And Yahweh Elohim caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one . . .and the rib which Yahweh Elohim had taken from man, made he a woman” (Gen.2:18,21,22).

“And out of the ground Yahweh Elohim formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; . . .” (Gen.2:19).

“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which Yahweh Elohim had made. ” (Gen.3:1).

“This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that Elohim created man, in the likeness of Elohim made he him; Male and female created he them; . . . ” (Gen.5:1,2).

“And Yahweh said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.” (Gen.6:7).

“And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high Elohim, possessor of heaven and earth: . . .” (Gen.14:19,22).

“For in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, . . .” (Exodus 20:11).

“It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.” (Ex.31:17).

“For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that Elohim [Yahweh, Gen.2:4] created man upon the earth, . . . Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that Yahweh he is Elohim; there is none else beside him. . .Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that Yahweh he is Elohim in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.” (Deut.4:32,35,39).

“. . .for the pillars of the earth are Yahweh’s, and He hath set the world upon them.” (1Sam.2:8).

“And Hezekiah prayed before Yahweh, and said, O Yahweh Elohim of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the Elohim, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.” (2 King.19:15).

“For all the elohim of the people are idols: but Yahweh made the heavens.” (1Chr.16:26).

“. . .Blessed be Yahweh Elohim of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, . . .” (2Chr.2:12).

“Thou, even thou, art Yahweh alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, . . .” (Neh.9:6).

“I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with Elohim? . . . Which removeth the mountains, . . .Which shaketh the earth out of her place,. . .Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars. Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, . . .Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, . . .” (Job 9:2-9).

“But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee: Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee. Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of Yahweh hath wrought this? In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.” (Job 12:7-10).

“He [Elohim] stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them. He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it. He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.” (Job 26:7-10).

“For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven; To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure. When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:” (Job 28:24-26).

“Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of El . . .Hast thou with him spread out the sky,” (Job 37:14-18).

“The heavens declare the glory of Elohim; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” (Ps.19:1).

“The earth is Yahweh’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.” (Ps.24:1,2).

“By the word of Yahweh were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear Yahweh: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.” (Ps.33:6,9).

“The day is thine [Elohim], the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.” (Ps.74:16).

“For who in the heaven can be compared unto Yahweh? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto Yahweh? Elohim is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him. O Yahweh Elohim of hosts, who is a strong Yahweh like unto thee? . . .The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.” (Ps.89:6-11).

“Sovereign, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art Elohim.” (Ps.90:1,2).

Yahweh reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; Yahweh is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.” (Ps.93:1,2).

“O come, let us sing unto Yahweh: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For Yahweh is a great Elohim, and a great King above all elohim. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before Yahweh our maker. For he is our Elohim; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.” (Ps.95:1-7).

“For all the elohim of the nations are idols: but Yahweh made the heavens.” (Ps.96:5).

“Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: . . .But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.” (Ps.102:25-27).

“Bless Yahweh, O my soul. O Yahweh my Elohim, thou art very great; thou . . .who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: . . .Who laid the foundations of the earth, . . .Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.” (Ps.104:1-9).

“He [Yahweh, vss.1,16] appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down. . . O Yahweh, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.” (Ps.104:19,24).

“Ye are blessed of Yahweh which made heaven and earth. The heaven, even the heavens, are Yahweh’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.” (Ps.115:15,16).

“For ever, O Yahweh, thy word is settled in heaven. Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.” (Ps.119:89,90).

“My help cometh from Yahweh, which made heaven and earth.” (Ps.121:2).

“Our help is in the name of Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.” (Ps.124:8).

“Yahweh that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion.” (Ps.134:3).

“For I know that Yahweh is great, and that our Sovereign is above all elohim. Whatsoever Yahweh pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places. He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.” (Ps.135:5-7).

“. . .To him [Yahweh, vs.1] that by wisdom made the heavens: . . .To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: . . .To him that made great lights: . . The sun to rule by day: for his mercy endureth for ever: The moon and stars to rule by night: . . .” (Ps.136:4-9).

“Happy is he that hath the Elohim of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in Yahweh his Elohim: Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:” (Ps.146:5,6).

“Praise ye Yahweh. Praise ye Yahweh from the heavens: praise him in the heights. Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts. Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens. Let them praise the name of Yahweh: for he commanded, and they were created. He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass.” (Ps.148:1-6).

“Yahweh by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.” (Pr.3:19).

“The rich and poor meet together: Yahweh is the maker of them all.” (Pr.22:2).

“Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name , and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?” (Pr.30:4).

“As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of Elohim who maketh all.” (Eccl.11:5).
“At that day shall a man look to his Maker [Yahweh, vss.3,6], and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. . .” (Is.17:7).

“O Yahweh of hosts, Elohim of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the Elohim, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.” (Is.37:16).

“Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance? Who hath directed the Spirit of Yahweh, or being his counsellor hath taught him? With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?” (Is.40:12-14).

“It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:. . .” (Is.40:22).

“Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting Elohim, Yahweh, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.” (Is.40:28).

“Thus saith Elohim Yahweh, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: . . . I am Yahweh: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.” (Is.42:5,8).

“But now thus saith Yahweh that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, . . .I am Yahweh, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.” (Is.43:15).

“Thus saith Yahweh the King of Israel, and his redeemer Yahweh of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no Elohim.” (Is.44:6).

“Thus saith Yahweh, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am Yahweh that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;” (Is.44:24).

“I am Yahweh, and there is none else, there is no Elohim beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded. (Is.45:5,6,12).

“For thus saith Yahweh that created the heavens; Elohim himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am Yahweh; and there is none else.” (Is.45:18).

“Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last. Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.” (Is.48:12,13).

“And forgettest Yahweh thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor? . . .And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.” (Is.51:13,16).

“For thy Maker is thine husband; Yahweh of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The Elohim of the whole earth shall he be called.” (Is.54:5).

“Therefore thus saith the Sovereign Yahweh, . . .For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.” (Is.65:13,17-19).

“Thus saith Yahweh, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith Yahweh: . . .” (Is.66:1,2).

“Fear ye not me? saith Yahweh: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?” (Jer.5:22).

“Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Yahweh; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. . . But Yahweh is the true Elohim, he is the living Elohim, and an everlasting king: . . .He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.” (Jer.10:6,10-13).

“Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O Yahweh our Elohim? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.” (Jer.14:22).

“Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith Yahweh. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith Yahweh.” (Jer.23:24).

“And command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith Yahweh of hosts, the Elohim of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters; . . .I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.” (Jer.27:4,5).

“Thus saith Yahweh, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; Yahweh of hosts is his name:” (Jer.31:35).

“Ah Sovereign Yahweh! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: . . .Behold, I am Yahweh, the Elohim of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? (Jer.32:17,27).

“Thus saith Yahweh the maker thereof, Yahweh that formed it, to establish it; Yahweh is his name;” (Jer.33:2).

“Yahweh of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee. He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.” (Jer.51:14,15).

“For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, Yahweh, The Elohim of hosts, is his name.” (Amos 4:13).

“And the Sovereign Yahweh of hosts . . . It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: Yahweh is his name.” (Amos 9:5,6).

“And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear Yahweh, the Elohim of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land.” (Jonah 1:9).

“The burden of the word of Yahweh for Israel, saith Yahweh, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.” (Zech.12:1).

“Have we not all one father? hath not one Elohim created us? . . .” (Mal.2:10).

“At that time Yahshua answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Sovereign of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.” (Mt.11:25).

“But Yahshua beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with Yahweh all things are possible.” (Mt.19:26).

“And Yahshua answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. But from the beginning of the creation Yahweh made them male and female.” (Mk.10:5,6).

“For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which Yahweh created unto this time, neither shall be.” (Mk.13:19).

“And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to Yahweh with one accord, and said, Yahweh, thou art Elohim, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: . . .The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Yahweh, and against his Messiah.” (Acts 4:24-27).

“Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Yahweh: or what is the place of my rest? Hath not my hand made all these things?” (Acts 7:49,50).

“And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living Elohim, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:” (Acts 14:15).

“For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN THEO. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. Yahweh that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Sovereign of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;” (Acts 17:23-26).

“Because that which may be known of Yahweh is manifest in them; for Yahweh hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and deity; so that they are without excuse: . . .” (Rom.1:19,20).

“Who changed the truth of Yahweh into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” (Rom.1:25).

“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of Yahweh! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Yahweh? or who hath been his counsellor? . . .For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” (Rom.11:33-36).

“As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other Elohim but one. For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one Elohim, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Master Yahshua Messiah, through* whom are all things, and we through* him.” (1Cor.8:4-6).

* Note: The Greek word is di’ and can correctly be translated for; ”. . . and one Master, Yahshua Messiah, for whom are all things, . . .”

“And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in Yahweh, who created all things; . . .” (Eph.3:9). (Note: “by Jesus Christ” (KJV) are added words)

“For there is one El, and one mediator between Yahweh and men, the man Messiah Yahshua;” (1Tim.2:5).

“Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which Yahweh hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” (1Tim.4:3).

“That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Master Yahshua Messiah: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Sovereign of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.” (1Tim.6:14-16).

“Yahweh, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, through* whom also he made the worlds;” (Heb.1:1,2).

* Note: “For” or “. . .on account of whom…” (Diaglott).

“But we see Yahshua, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of Yahweh should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, . . .” (Heb.2:9-11).

“For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is Yahweh.” (Heb.3:4).

“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of Yahweh, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” (Heb.11:3).

“For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is Yahweh.” (Heb.11:10).

“Thou art worthy, O Yahweh, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Rev.4:11).

“And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:” (Rev.10:6).

“Saying with a loud voice, Fear Yahweh, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” (Rev.14:7).
